Step 3: Coverage Period (Monitoring)
During the coverage window, WeatherIt automatically:
- Monitors weather conditions
- Uses independent, authoritative data sources
- Applies objective measurement criteria
How Rainfall Is Assessed
Rainfall assessment considers three factors together:
graph TD
A[Rainfall Assessment] --> B[Coverage Window]
A --> C[Rainfall Amount]
A --> D[Rainfall Duration]
B --> E[All Three Factors<br/>Must Be Met]
C --> E
D --> E
E --> F{Trigger Evaluation}
| Factor | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Coverage Window | Specific start and end time | 8am–8pm |
| 2. Rainfall Amount | Defined threshold | 2mm or more |
| 3. Rainfall Duration | Total time period (consecutive or non-consecutive) | 2 hours total |
Example Scenario
Coverage: 8am to 8pm
Trigger: 2mm or more of rain over 2 hours totalBoth scenarios trigger payout:
- Scenario A: 2mm falls each hour from 10am-12pm (consecutive)
- Scenario B: 2mm falls 10-11am, then 2mm falls 4-5pm (non-consecutive)
This structure ensures outcomes are:
- Objective
- Measurable
- Consistent
